Herb Koonce is retiring!

After 23 years of continuing service at the Collinsville Library, Herbert Koonce our 'custodial engineer' is retiring.

Herb started at the library in 1983 under Librarian Florence Burkholder. Since then he has seen many changes here at the library.

In 1988 he helped to open the newly constructed South Wing of the building - doubling its existing size at the time. In 2004 he saw the move from the Collinsville Memorial Public Library to the Mississippi Valley Public Library District.

He served under Librarian Linda Baquet Harris and, finally, under Librarian Barbara Rhodes for the last ten years.

Herb has been the mainstay of the library and has added to its continuing to be one of the best features of Collinsville.

The Collinsville Memorial Public Library Center is inviting all of his long time friends to a reception in his honor on Friday, October 6th in the Florence Burkholder Community Room from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please stop by for a piece of cake and some coffee and say "Happy Retirement" to a gentleman who has touched our lives so preciously!

Music returns to the Library after over 10 years...

And you can help make the collection grow even faster!

Two forms of music are now being collected - Sheet music and music on CD. If you have any sheet music for any type of instrument or music on CD of any genre, such as country, pop, classical, ethnic, etc. that you would like to donate, the library would like to add it to their collections for the entire community to use.

By the end of the year, these collections will be added to the new Audio Visual Center that will be located in a redesigned room on the lower level in the Library.

Help us with this new beginning!

Bring music back to the Collinsville Library Center.
