Fairmont City Library Center opening next week

The Mississippi Valley Library District has seen many changes in the last number of years.
With the expansion of our borders in 2006 the travel to the outside areas of our library district can be as long as 25 minutes. To better serve the people living in those outside areas, we are working very hard to bring the library to you.

Starting in June and following through to July, the MVLD has teamed with Holy Rosary Parish in Fairmont City to bring a temporary library that can bring better service to Fairmont City and State Park residents.

The Fairmont City Library Center
will open its doors on June 3rd
at 10:00 a.m.
in the Holy Rosary School’s Primary Building
at 2727 N. 43rd Street
in Fairmont City

The Fairmont City Library Center will then continue to be open from Tuesday through Thursday 10am to 6pm and Friday and Saturday 9am to 5pm for every week through June and July. The Library Center will be closed on Sundays and Mondays of each week and will also close on June 20th and 21st for the Village’s picnic and on July 4th. Otherwise, the Library will be open and the staff ready to serve

The FC Library Center will be staffed by experienced library staff and will be fully stocked with books, audiobooks, videos, dvds, public assess computers, and the ability to order anything and have it delivered to that Center 5 days a week.

Although this is a temporary solution, the Board of Trustees and the staff are hoping that with each step that we are getting closer to a permanent building and a permanent Library Center for the area. We are hoping that you will use the FC Library Center and prove that through your interest that the need for a Library in Fairmont City is an important service.
