Patron of the Week!

In recognition of her generous giving, Mitzi Calbreath has been named Collinsville Library’s most recent Patron of the Week! Mitzi was nominated for this prestigious award in recognition of her frequent donations of books and audiobooks for the library’s collection, most recently she donated two big bags full of high-quality hardcover books, many in large print. Mitzi’s favorite items to borrow from the library are a wide variety of audiobooks (anything from suspense to romance, depending on her mood) and CDs, including everything from Frank Sinatra to Christmas music, regardless of what time of the year it is, because she finds it uplifting. To quote Mitzi, “There’s enough in life to make you unhappy, so it’s nice to find things that make you feel good.” Mitzi really enjoys using the library’s online Card Catalogue to request items in our system and our Interlibrary Loan to get a hold of items that aren’t. A special “Thank you!” to Mitzi for the donations and for being a great library patron!  If any of you have items you would like to donate to the Library, we accept donations of new or gently used items all year round.

Patron of the Week!

Katherine Ross, a junior at Collinsville High School, is this week’s Patron of the Week! Katherine was nominated in appreciation of her numerous hours spent volunteering as a Homework Helper in the Children’s Library. While Katherine likes to check out all types of non-fiction items (everything from biographies to documentaries) from the Library, her favorite author is Jane Austen, and she fits right in as a member of our Classics Book Club! Katherine, who is looking forward to being a senior this fall, likes to stay involved at CHS. Not only is she the President of the Science Club and Secretary of Mu Alpha Theta, but she’s also a member of Science Olympiad, Spanish Club, and a co-founder of the recently created Student Congress, a branch of the CHS Student Council that aims to give a voice to students who may not otherwise have one.

Thank you, Katherine, for all your homework help! If anyone reading this is interested in helping with homework after summer, or would like to volunteer their time to help with summer Children's Programming, please get in touch with Alison Donnelly, our Children's Librarian by emailing her: alisond(at)mvlibdist(dot)org

New Patron of the Week!

David Morris has been named Collinsville Library's most recent "Patron of the Week". David was nominated for donating an entire tray of canned goods during the Library's recent "Food for Fines" program (in which the Library takes $1 off of your fines for every item you donate for the Collinsville Food Pantry), even though his fine was only eighty cents! David's favorite items to check out from the Library include military fiction and history books, CDs (including Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam) and movies (starring Denzel Washington). Aside from being great Library patrons, David and his wife Christina are very involved in the Gateway Area Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (and help with everything from Trivia Nights and Silent Auctions to Mud Runs and Bike Rides). David and Christina also volunteer with the Collinsville Animal Shelter in their spare time. The Collinsville Library is very grateful to have David and Christina as patrons, and we're very fortunate to have them as members of our community.

Patron of the week!

Staff members at the library have started a Patron of the Week award to recognize outstanding patrons who grace our building. Our first Patron of the Week is Nick Bonn.

Nick was nominated for generously re-gifting a package of brand-new Silly Bandz to a younger patron whom he thought would enjoy them more than he would. The staff enjoys seeing Nick in the library and always appreciates his kind manners and warm smile. Nick regularly comes to the library at least once a week. He enjoys books about Professional Wrestling (the Undertaker is his favorite), and movies about Monster Trucks. Nick says he likes to come to the Collinsville Library because it is a nice place and the librarians are nice and helpful.

He is especially excited to be our very first Patron of the Week!
