On This Day In...1986

Jiddu Krishnamurti died at the age of 90 on this day in 1986. An author and public speaker, Krishnamurti's spiritual and philosophical insights brought him a rather large audience from a very young age. Krishnamurti remained active throughout his entire life, giving his last public speech just one month before his death.

Key Library Checkouts:

The First and Last Freedom - Published in 1954, this book features a foreword by Aldous Huxley of Brave New World fame.

Think On These Things - The back of the book says, "Krishnamurti's observations and explorations of modern man's estate are penetrating and profound, yet given with disarming simplicity and directness. To listen to him or to read his thoughts is to face oneself and the world with an astonishing morning freshness."
